Dana Rockey DMD Expands to Offer Healthy Lifestyle and Nutrition Coaching

Dr. Dana Rockey DMD and Peggy Anne Rockey RN are pleased to introduce Healthy Lifestyle & Nutrition Coaching, a new service in at their Newport Beach dental practice, Dana Rockey DMD.

Peggy Anne Rockey RN will head up the new division of the practice that offers the healthy lifestyle and nutrition coaching services to both dental patients and non-dental patients. Peggy Anne Rockey has worked as a Registered Nurse and Health Care Consultant for 30 years and brings the Rockey’s passion and purpose of helping people to live a healthy lifestyle to experience a better quality of life to the practice.

Peggy Anne notes, “We have a nutrition crisis in America that is being disguised as a health crisis. People are eating large amounts of junk food that leads to serious health problems in childhood and adulthood. Poor eating habits put adults at risk for serious illnesses, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, some cancers including breast and colon cancer, and all of the “itis” illnesses (ex: arthritis, colitis and bronchitis).”

Peggy Anne says, “Our bodies function best when they are well nourished. Choosing the right foods can improve your health. We don’t need to let our health issues control us. It is time to take charge of our health–now.”

This month, Dr. Dana Rockey DMD celebrated the one-year anniversary of opening his dental practice in Newport Beach, California. In a recent healthcare industry interview Dr. Rockey was asked about why he opened a new generation practice after 30 years of success as a dentist, when most of his cohorts would be thinking about retirement.

Dana notes, “Over the past 5 years, my approach to dental care and the healthcare of my patients has changed toward a wellness-focus that includes a whole-person view of patients and incorporates a crucial factor into health care of patients, namely nutrition. By far, healthy nutrition is the number one determinant of a person’s health over factors like exercise. With recent scientific discoveries, break-throughs in technology, and through my experience observing how nutrition plays a key role in healing the body, I’m dedicating the rest of my career to helping people to make the rest of their lives, the best of their lives – though better health. It’s my profession and my purpose, which I enjoy immensely.”

Peggy Anne Rockey, RN recalls, “About 5 years ago, the changes that occurred in the health of our family over a short period of time were the catalyst for Dana and I to begin looking deeper into the connection between lifestyle, nutrition and disease, and also the relationship between oral health (periodontal disease) and systemic health (the health of the entire body). It was at this point that our desire to provide Wellness-Based Dental Services to our patients was born. We are here today to offer our dental patients all of the science-based knowledge that we have learned about living a healthy lifestyle, incorporating lifestyle, exercise, attitude and nutrition as a basis for practicing prevention and improving their health, orally and systemically.”
